Sunday, January 24, 2021, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
One Sunday Each Month After the Worship Service, Jean Olson will facilitate the first of
four winter/spring Practicing Workshops. A series of workshops will be offered this
winter and spring based on the book Practicing: Changing Yourself to Change the World
by Kathy Escobar. In the introduction to the book the author defines “practicing” as:
- To participate in an activity or implement a skill repeatedly to develop greater
- To intentionally work toward growth through repetition and experience.
January 24 and on February 14
The Practice of Loving will be offered with a
discussion of what it means to truly love one another. The author alerts us, “For as
much as we talk about love, preach about love, and tell people they should love, we
often aren’t that great about practicing it.” We will practice listening to each other in
small groups as we discuss various situations and questions that will help us to find
ways to practice loving.
April 18 and May 16
The Practice of Including will be centered on creating a space
that makes room for all people. We will learn how to intentionally embrace and
value differences. We will also consider whose voices are not being heard.
