Biography Hour

Biography Hour will continue to place special emphasis on those biblical characters and historical figures who embodied the work of justice in notable ways. Persons of interest for this term will include Mary, Mother of Jesus, Mahatma Ghandi, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Queen Esther, Will Campbell, Malcolm X, Cornell West, Leo Tolstoy and Mother Teresa.

Women's Bible Study

We will continue our second Advent study, "The Messiah: An Adult Advent Study", written by Walter Brueggemann and centered on study of the four titles of the Messiah given in Isaiah 9:6: “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. Later in January and February we will explore a Kerygma study entitled, "Blessed are You: The Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and Life". We will examine Old Testament roots and context and explore the contemporary implications of these powerful words
